How to Speed up Internet connection on Windows 10
Are you looking for  Speed up Internet connection  Windows 10? let see,
Slow internet speed, that is the most frustrating thing to experience while browsing the web. Specially, Windows 10 users complain a lot about slow internet speed after upgrading or installing windows 10. By digging deeper about that issue we found out that by tweaking just a few settings, you can easily increase the internet speed to a great extent on your window 10 computer. Here are some killer tips & tricks to fix slow internet speed and  speed up your internet connection windows 10.

* But first thing you should do is to note down the current download and upload speed, then you can compare the upload and download speed after doing below customization.

1.Change the bandwidth limit to Zero

Since windows 7 to 10, by default, reserves 20% of the internet bandwidth for the system applications and their operating system, you cannot browse or surf on the internet with 100% internet speed connection. But with this solution speeds up the dropping internet speed by trimming down the bandwidth which is reserved for Windows 10 AU and system applications.

Bandwidth term is used for the range covered for data transmission between an upper range and lower range, which is controlled by Internet service Provider (ISP). However, Windows OS provide certain configuration to limit reservable bandwidth limit. Windows, by default keeps some amount of bandwidth for its application and operation requirements. You can limit the reservable bandwidth from Group Policy editor.

1.   Press Windows + R shortcut key to open Group Policy Editor from Run Command line

2.      Then type in Gpedit.msc  (make sure you are logged in with an Administrative account) -->> Press OK to give permissions.

3.      Then, a pop-up window will open with title of Group Policy.

4.      Click on Computer Configuration on the right side of the window.

5.      Computer Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Network >> QoS Packet Scheduler >> Limit reservable bandwidth

6.      When you click on Limit reservable bandwidth, it should open a new window, where it must be in Not Configured mode

7.      Change the mode to Enabled and reduce the Bandwidth limit value from 20 to 0.

8.      Apply and then click OK.

2.Disable Window Auto-Tuning

Window Auto-Tuning which is enabled by default improves performance for programs by receiving TCP data over a network. Slower internet speed after Windows 10 Anniversary Update could hit your computer when Window Auto-Tuning feature is ON. Luckily  you can disable Windows Auto-Tuning level to improve the internet speed for the Windows 10 anniversary update. For that you must use administrator privileges to process the following steps.

           1. Click on Windows logo, type and select Command Prompt Then Run as Administrator.
           2. Then type the command, netsh interface tcp show global in the window.
           3. Check for Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level and if it is normal, you will need to disable it.

3.Update Your Network Drivers

Sometimes some unexpected driver errors may happen when you upgrade your windows to new Windows OS. Outdated, missing or incorrect network drivers may result in limiting or slow your internet speed. To rule out that possibility, you might as well turn to a professional driver updater utility tool, like Driver Talent, Drive Booster, which is able to match the compatible drivers for your computer and download them automatically within two minutes.

Every time when you open your web browser or surf in internet, DNS resolution are made and your computers keep track of them. Caching these resolutions actually improves the page load time, as your computer no longer has to ask another computer the address of the page.
But overtime, it may store a bad entry which delays things. Ideally in every 24 hours your computer should update the DNS and remove these bad entries automatically. But you can flush the DNS cache manually too, Here’s how,

1.      Open Windows command prompt (Click on Windows logo and type and select Command Prompt).

Windows 10 allows some of the background apps to function by default that turn consumes a lot of data as well as the internet bandwidth. The notable culprit here is the ‘Mail’ application that depletes the majority of data. In such cases, it is rather safe to switch off of these offenders or apps in order to save yourself some data and bandwidth.

Many apps run in Background to update to eat your bandwidth and in turn slowing your internet speed. You must turn off background apps to save yourself from data leakage.

1.      Open settings panel again.
2.      Click on privacy.
3.      Scroll down the left menu and choose background apps.
4.      Then, Turn off Background apps.
5.      switch off any other apps that you think you do not require and are finishing your data.

For using Google DNS, Type:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

For using OpenDNS, Type:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.22

Disabling windows update service is not recommended, because it’s always good to keep your PC updated to the latest version of Windows 10 OS, but if you are really struggling with your internet speeds and If you want a high download speed for download a particular file for few days, then you can definitely disable windows 10 update service. You always have the option of turning it on anytime in future.

1.      Search services in windows 10 taskbar search.
2.      Click on services.
3.      Now, Once the services manager window opens up  just find windows update from the list.
4.      Just Click on stop to stop it.
5.      Now, change startup option to disabled from the dropdown.

10.Select “Metered” as your Data Connection

You could also set your current Wi-Fi connection as “metered”. That is the best option you have. When you set a connection as metered, you are telling Windows it’s a connection with restricted data such as a mobile data/limited data connection or a Wi-Fi Hotspot from a smartphone you are tethered to. Windows won’t upload any updates on a metered connection if it won’t even automatically download most Windows updates.

So, Changing your data connection to “Metered” under the Settings is one of the most basic steps in order to send a signal to the Windows 10 that will restrict massive updates and self-regulating app downloads. Also it could be cause to speed up your internet speed. In order to change the setting to Metered you need to follow steps.

We recommend just selectingPCs on my local network”

Select the option you prefer under “Allow downloads from other PCs”. We recommend just selecting “PCs on my local network” here.

Off: This disables the peer-to-peer update feature entirely. Updates will only be downloaded from Microsoft’s servers, & won’t be uploaded to anywhere.

PCs on my local network: This is the best option we can recommend. With this enabled, you’ll benefit from peer-to-peer updates on your home/work network. Its means faster downloads and less download bandwidth used. You’ll only have to download the updates once, and they will be shared amongst all your PCs. Your PC will never upload updates over the Internet.

PCs on my local network, and PCs on the Internet: This option is the default one, although it probably shouldn’t be. With this enabled, Windows 10 will upload updates from your PC to other computers over the Internet. These computers would normally just download updates from MS, but Microsoft will save on bandwidth because those PCs are getting some updates from your Internet connection.

Opting to keep the “Live Tiles” option “On” will keep the News application running in the background which will constantly keep you updated with the latest Feeds. Facebook, Twitter, Mail or Weather are certain apps that are interconnected with the Feed and will keep retrieving the News automatically. In case if you are not interested in the Feeds you can deactivate it the “Live Tiles” and opt out of it. Right click on the option “Tile” and select the option that says “Turn live tile off” and you are done.

Just go to Settings -> Apps -> Offline Maps. Turn off the option Automatically Update Maps.

So you really do not want it to run at the background unless required, hence, it’s a better idea to keep it switched off till the time you need to sync files. In order to switch the PC sync off you need to follow below steps.

1.      Go to Settings option
2.      go to Accounts
3.      find the option that says Sync your settings
4.      just slide it to OFF.

16. Disabled Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)

BITs, Transfers files in the background using idle network bandwidth. If the service is disabled, then any applications that depend on BITS, such as Windows Update or MSN Explorer, will be unable to automatically download programs and other information.
